2003-10-16 09:05:00 Getting a PC preloaded with XP doesn't automatically mean you just get a restore CD. I just got a new PC from TL Systems and it came with the full Win XP CD. tbacon_nz (865)
2003-10-16 09:13:00 Thanks for the offer of phone numbers, but I will check with my puter fix it man at PC Service Center in Christchurch, and see what he comes up with. But thanks anyway. I just didn't realise any of them offered terms now. supergran (108)
2003-10-16 09:58:00 Supergran, if you get a computer made up for you it *should* come with an OEM Win XP disc, not a restore disc like the big brands come with (HP, Dell, etc). Talk to your PC man and make it clear what your requirements are and I am sure he will oblige. Fire-and-Ice (3910)
2003-10-16 09:58:00 Remember though that if you have a new PC which supports hyperthreading (latest P4C CPU's) then you will have to run XP unfortunately to get the full benefit.

2003-10-17 07:33:00 I had a look at Trademe, but if I am going to upgrade, may as well go over 2 gig processor speed, bought with a warranty, as it will be a long time before I manage to talk hubby into another upgrade. He reckons this one goes ok, only crashes once a day or so, so why do I need a new one. LOL The fact that it is only a 500 speed whatever and no usb port is beyond him. And as I want to plug in a digital camera to it one of these days, would rather a slightly quicker puter. 'grin' I got my cd writer, but now I want more. As I guess most people who use puters lots do. :D supergran (108)
