| 183393 | 2003-11-20 05:44:00 | Well beetle, with the best will in the world I could not say that just standing beside a machine would make it fault. I regret you must simply put that down to coincidence. I wasn't suggesting you change your wardrobe by the way, but not choosing clothing and shoe materials at opposite ends of the triboelectric spectrum can help. You are not alone in this affliction, Mrs T also suffers from severe static shocks, especially in summer. One thing, if your carpets are acrylic rather than wool, and you have vinyl floor tiles in kitchen or laundry, a change of footwear might help. If you have severe problems, there are inexpensive shoe grounding straps available that you could use around the house. They work very well. Cheers Billy 8-{) :| |

| 183395 | 2003-11-20 06:48:00 | Don't listen to him Beetle. Billy is the moderate face of science and logic. Whereas in your actual fact those of us in the know realise that you have your quantum foot in the door of a wormhole to another universe. There is electron leakage from that other part of time and space because it is operating at a slightly higher energy level. The rogue particles are using you as a conduit and the unsuspecting electrical appliances suffer collateral damage as the alien energy bursts forth. S'well known fact that Hamilton is near a wormhole. Anyway I'll come and rescue you as soon as I get my Tardis back from Telecom. |

| 183401 | 2003-11-20 23:29:00 | I'm gonna go with you beetle. I believe that some people do have some sort of electrical effect on machines without even touching them. An example I've seen is I've had a PC that I've been using and been running fine for ages until my mate walked past it and it blue screened straight away! So he jumped on it and tried to fix it but it kept blue screening. So I got on it, restarted it and it ran fine ever since. The same mate also uses my car quite often and every time he gets out he gets a shock but I have never had a shock off it in 3 years. |
