The upcoming High Speed Internet - ADSL sounds interesting, but until pricing is announced, there's no way of telling if it will be of value.

They're targeting upstream speeds of 256Kbps, and downstream of up to 2Mbps... it'll be interesting to see how many people take it up upon residential release.

184018 2003-10-17 01:18:00 Thanks for the replies everyone. It sounds like Orcon is the way to go. 5 gigs should be more then enough as I dont spend huge amounts of time on the net, just a fair bit.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what modem I should use? I need something with VPN pass through for work.

Thanks.

Have a search through the forum, including Chill's recent thread on ADSL modems.

You may find the Dynalink RTA300 (www.dynalink.co.nz) will suit you. A few PF1 members use it and eveyone including myself seem happy with it. There is also a wireless version RTA300W if you are interested in that.

The specifications for it can be found here (www.dynalink.co.nz), and you can see that it does support VPN:
ROUTING FEATURES - VPN passthrough for PPTP and IPSec ESP tunnel mode.

184020 2003-10-17 01:43:00 Thanks Jen, seems a little pricey for me though . Cost is a BIG factor in this exercise so I might just have to stick with the dial up connection for work and get a cheaper modem .

Dick Smith seems to sell them for about $120 .

Appreciate the help .
