| 184263 | 2003-10-17 10:48:00 | HI, currently my win98 is networked to winxp that has a log-in screen upon startup (on win98). I am selling the win98 and would like to get it back to original as it was b4 it was networked. How do I do that? I dun want to reinstall it. Do I just disable the network connection? Thanks. |

| 184264 | 2003-10-17 11:07:00 | Right-Click on Network Neighbourhood and change the Default Login type from Microsoft network Login (Or something similar) to Microsoft Family Logon... Im sorry its not 100% clear, Im in Linux ATM, but follow your nose and it shouldnt be too hard. You select it from a drop-down box IIRC :-) Cheers Chill. |

If it were me I would be doing a format of the computer with a data destroyer and reinstalling Windows rather than just deleting my files . Even if the computer is being passed on to someone you know, there is no telling who may own it further down the track and I sure wouldn't want to make it easy for anyone to nose around my personal files and documents . Deleted files can be easily restored with data recovery software but a utility that overwrites the hard disk a few times makes it more difficult . Just thought you may like to know, in case you are not aware of that . :-) Note: Destruction of data has been discussed on this forum quite a few times fairly recently and I am not talking about high level data destruction . For that read this thread ( . pcworld . co . nz/thread . jsp?forum=1&thread=32082&message=137799&q=destroy+data#137799" target="_blank">pressf1 . pcworld . co . nz) . ;-) |
