| 184099 | 2003-10-17 02:34:00 | Thought i would start another topic to get things going quicker, in short whenever Iattempt to shut down or restart. The computer refuses to do so, just a flicker of the screen, and back to normal. OS is 98se,600Mhz,64Ram 10GB HDD.I know it's old just has to make it to xmas so it can retire gracefully. | 184100 | 2003-10-17 02:42:00 | humour me here, you shut down all running progs? you have logged off ? and then i presume click on turn off puter? and it doesnt? what have you recently changed or added to this puter? settings or prog installs / uninstalls? may not be on right track here..... beetle |

| 184102 | 2003-10-17 21:12:00 | when did this start to happen? try uninstalling any firewalls anti virus stuff or anything new that was put on recently ;do a clean up with spybot adaware regcleaner washandgo etc there is a windows shut down patch as well if all else fails just hold down the power button for 5 seconds you may need to reinstall your O/S in the worse scenerio |

| 184103 | 2003-10-18 23:44:00 | Sry people,this is part 2 of another thread i have on here,I recently DLed a programme called System Utilities,it's been going fine until a couple of day's ago at the moment i'm blaming that. Iget sick of holding down the button as u have to wait for Scan Disk to run at start up.Is that Windows patch in there DL section.I realise Imay have to do a system restore but am trying everything else before hand.
