| 184710 | 2003-10-19 05:17:00 | Hey, Does anyone know if the new 256k offering from Xtra/Telecom has P2P and international gaming etc limitations like many ISP's have on their 128k connections. I rung Xtra 'Technical Support' Desk, who surprisingly didnt even know there was a 256k service! Any help appreciated Ash |

You would need to ring Telecom, as the bandwidth for any connection other than Jetstream Starter is Telecom provided, not ISP. So on Jetstream Starter, Paradise/Xtra/Actrix/Orcon/whoever provide the bandwidth and Telecom provide the exchange connection. Jetstream 256, fullrate etc, Paradise/Xtra/Actrix/Orcon/whoever provide IP addressing in Telecom's space, e-mail, authentication and support. Telecom provide both bandwidth and the exchange connection. If it is limited it'll be limited by Telecom, and I am fairly sure it isn't. Jetstream Starter it was limited on an ISP by ISP basis purely to give priority to http traffic etc. |
