184422 2003-10-18 05:23:00 The 3GB hard drive I’m my old Acer Extensa 501 DX (P266, 120MB RAM) died the other day, and I’m looking for a replacement. Does anyone know of a place where I could pick up something similar reasonably cheep?

I have had a look on trademe, but most people seem to think their hard drives are worth a small fortune, considering a new 20GB Hitachi goes for $189 INC GST.

Cheers

Liam.

184423 2003-10-18 13:02:00 Well if I was buying a new hard drive, I wouldn't be wanting a second hand one off trademe, as its lifetime is probably considerably less. Get a new one so you get the good warranty as well.

I can see a few on this page here (www.pricespy.co.nz), but yea they do look a bit expensive. How much are you wanting to pay (max) and what capacity.

I have bought from them, and their service is good.

184425 2003-10-19 00:45:00 Morning, or rather afternoon (just had breakfast), as it has turned out I have purchased a 5GB drive of ebay this morning (@5:20AM).

So I will see how that goes.

Cheers
