I have turned my firewall off (Kerio), but don't know what to do from here..I run Win98se, can anyone tell me how to fix this, thank you very much... amazon (3976)

185235 2003-10-20 21:33:00 What type of internet connection, method of connecting? e.g. ADSL router, dialup modem etc...

You may need to set Kerio up to allow MSN and the ports it uses. Do you have problems with other programs accessing the net?

If you use an ADSL router, you may need to setup pinholes for MSN to connect, you may need to configure IE connection settings correctly.

You should not need to setup proxy unless you connect through another computer for accessing the net, if you do connect through another computer to access the net, check that computer isn't blocking you.

185236 2003-10-20 21:41:00 Hi there, my ISP is Paradise, I use a 56k dial up...I have uninstalled Kerio firewall, but still no luck..is there another program i can install which will let me talk with someone who has MSN?
Paradise refused to help me configure my puter for MSN...bloody slack I reckon.

Why should they. It costs money to run a free help desk and it is there mainly to help customers with Paradise connection and email problems.

It is not the job of ISP's to give free support to the many unessential programs you may elect to install on your computer and cause wait times for customers with genuine Paradise problems or enquiries.

If you want support for these sort of programs you can always call Microsoft or do you just want to get everything for free.

Why ask, you post a lot of questions Stu.
It is answers that they want.

185239 2003-10-20 22:49:00 Jim B. No, I don't want everything for free, are you always sarcastic like that, or are your bum grapes playing up? amazon (3976)
185240 2003-10-20 23:05:00 After turning your firewall off did you reboot your computer and try connecting then? Kerio should have "let go" immediately but sometimes it needs to "unhook" itself before you can get through .

Also, did you have an earlier version of MSN working before installing version 6 . 0?

Why don't you try growing up a bit? Tasteless tactless insults aren't required.

You'll find Jim is one of the most knowledgable posters around here, providing a hell of a lot of helpful fixes.

Absolutely fair enough that Paradise doesn't support the software, so they shouldn't, they didn't write it, you don't need it to get e-mail or internet access, and it's a poorly engineered piece of software at that.

As for providing help, I would've, in fact I probably would've solved the problem for you, but your insolence towards a respected and helpful forum member just screwed your chances of that.

185242 2003-10-20 23:50:00 Well no problems there, perhaps I took it the wrong way about what Jim said, if i did I apologise for that. As for your help, keep it. Its not taht important to me. amazon (3976)
