185215 2003-10-20 19:07:00 I am still deciding on which laptop to purchase. Can anyone explain the difference between a mobile Pentium 4 and a Pentium 4 and how would a mobile Pentium 4 3.06GHz stack up against the AMD Mobile Athlon XP?

Thanks for help so far.

185216 2003-10-20 21:48:00 It may help if you keep posting on the same related thread next time rather than starting a new one.. Just saves others who are reading from having to check back through your history and get the background info.

A Mobile Pentium 4 is obviously designed for Laptops, so that battery life will last longer. AFAIK it includes extra power management features so you can "tone down" the speed of the CPU, or max it out depending on what you're using your laptop for at the time.

It depends on the speed of the Mobile AMD CPU really.... .... ....
