185206 2003-10-20 18:24:00 I bought a Canon G3 digital camera this year. With it came software, including Photoshop 5.0 LE. While the Canon software which came with the camera loaded ok, Photoshop didn't/won't. My operating system is Windows 2000, and I wonder if this the problem as Photoshop will load on my 'old' computer which has Windows 98 as it's operating system.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a 'work around'? Any suggestions? Have I given you all the info about my system you need to answer my query? ?:|

Many thanks
R.M. :)

185207 2003-10-20 18:48:00 The fact that it installs on your Windows 98 machine suggests the CD itself is fine and that there is something disagreeing with the new PC .

Not sure it's worthwhile, but you could try to disable or unload any programs that are memory resident and try installing again .

Also, I am assuming there is nothing wrong with your CD rom drive in the win2k machine . That is possible but unlikely .

I don't there it is likely that there is some fundamental incompatibility with Win2k and Photoshop 5 LE . You might want to check what it says on the CD packet or manual .

What is the error when it won't load? It's not a user rights/security thing, is it?

185209 2003-10-22 04:06:00 Hi - thanks for replies. I had another scratch around the cd, found a New Zealand 0800 phone number and rang it this morning. To my surprise I found myself talking to Manilla, and no, Photoshop 5.0 LE won't load in Windows 2000. Oh darn!

185210 2003-10-22 04:48:00 Probably a good, cheaper one to get is Photoshop Elements 2, somwhere around $200 i think. mejobloggs (264)
185211 2003-10-22 06:09:00 You could format and install 98SE as a last resort kiwibeat (304)
185212 2003-10-22 08:39:00 Ask Canon NZ for software that is compatable with todays standard OS's, I presume you bought the camera new (don't think the G5 was around pre 2k for that matter) . IMO the software is part of the package you paid for and they and its not up to it .

As an eg, I'm talking to Canon at the mo about their software that shipped with a EOS 300D, Photoshop elements is fine but the zoom browser won't load on my w2k machine . Its an Installshield issue is is probably specific to my machine (not sdiscounting that others may suffer as well) but is basicly poor compiling of the installation files . If nothing happens soon by way of a fix, I'll be asking for equivelent software . Not that I like my chances, but . . .
