185119 2003-10-20 09:06:00 Mailwasher, IE etc all connect when opened but Opera will not. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and cant find the internet options in opera, where are they or is something else wrong? When I open opera I get a message saying "network problem" and the address of my homepage but no connection. If I establish a connection via mailwasher first, then open opera it connects no problems. 185120 2003-10-20 09:08:00 Are you using a firewall if so which one beama (111)
185121 2003-10-20 09:12:00 Not firewall, still same problem with firewall turned off, just checked. Danger (287)
185122 2003-10-20 09:40:00 Maybe change from home page. Go to file/preferences/start exit/ and set "Start with no pages". Should open and wait for you to pick up a bookmark or something. TonyF (246)
185123 2003-10-20 09:43:00 Also go to file/preferences/default option/ and make Opera check as default.

What do you mean by that?

Are you saying you can't get your modem to dialin and connect when you open Opera.

Why not put a shortcut for your dialup connection on the desktop and connect with that.

185126 2003-10-21 08:12:00 Yes, my modem will not dial up and connect when I open Opera, is that usual? I usually open up with Mailwasher, no problems there, I just thought Opera should connect when opened. Its now been uninstalled because all the interface went black and horrible, a shame cos it does seem faster than IE. Danger (287)

Indeed it should - persist with it as it is an excellent browser.

185128 2003-10-21 09:29:00 As far as I know Opera does not connect you to the internet like IE does but to me that is a good thing. Personally I like to connect from my QuickLaunch shortcut before opening any browsers or my email client, but each to their own.

It would be a shame if that put you off using Opera as it is a nice browser. Not sure about the black page problem though - maybe you could try installing it again or re-downloading?

Have you tried Firebird at all? That is my current favourite, in case you hadn't noticed. :p :D
