| 185200 | 2003-10-23 10:52:00 | Many, many appologies if needed! :-( All I can say is that I am only British, sorry. :_| I think now that it is mentioned that I have heard of Babe Ruth. Didn't the guy who played Fred Flinstone in the first 'real' film play Babe Ruth in a film about his life once??? ?:| Oh dear, hope I don't get dropped as I felt I was getting some where! You guys have helped out a lot. Any old pickled Hobbit, sorry once again, Regards, the Cell |

Anyway, have you solved your problem yet? The 'wait' command looks useful. What programs are your trying to start and close etc? Do they close by themself? |

| 185203 | 2003-10-26 11:10:00 | Think I got away with that one, phew!! ;-) PoWa. Ok, I have to say I'm a little embarrassed as I haven't actually had the time to take this any further than where I was @ the start!! :8} I'm not really sure how to write a batch file as I was thinking it's a DOS file of which I didn't think Windows XP had!! ?:| This may be perhaps too far over my head, but I've printed out all thus far. But I'm fairly confident and quite tenacious (or stoopid :-) ) so I'll keep pegging away @ it 'till I find an answer. :D The 'wait' command does look useful, and maybe used in conjunction with the 'start' command ( c above) will find my answer. But I don't fully understand how to write a batch file yet, let alone what to put in it even. :_| Any help there would be very much appreciated!! :x Will do a search for Batch file tutorials on the interweb!! LOL BTY & FYI There is a (are some) site(s) out there that has "Sams learn C++ in 24 (21?) hours." for free in a PDF file. It's a 10 year old version, but I think that C++ hasn't changed that much!! :-) Check Google out to find it. Ta again, :D the Cell |

| 185204 | 2003-10-27 11:28:00 | Well 'gang'. Very much appreciated for all your help. It appears that Babe_Ruth knows his marbles!! :D I opened notepad, saved it as 'StartAll.bat' (it seemed like a good idea @ the time!!! :p ) and typed: START /WAIT program1 START /WAIT program2 START /WAIT batchcmd1 START /WAIT link3 ... etc well actually I didn't have to type wait just the "W". So all I typed was: START /W program 1.........etc AND (falling over in extremes of enjoyment, no I don't get out much!! :-) ) it worked. Just what I wanted. B-) Many, many thanks for all your help, now I'll 'bone' up a little on batch files and try and refine it all a bit. Regards, the Cell :D |
