| 185031 | 2003-10-20 08:07:00 | Yes this board only takes slot 1 ,The 533 celeron I was given was already attached to a socket 370 -slot 1 converter. I think its called a slocket? Anyway heres a bit of info about my MS-6117. I set the dip switchs on the mobo to 333mhz . Cheers Steve PS: flashing the bios is not as major as it sounds. except if you use a file intended for another mobo or you have a power failure :-( If you do stuff it up you havent lost anything of value & you will gain from the experience ----[ Summary ]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Computer: Operating System Microsoft Windows 98 SE OS Service Pack None Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106 (IE 6.0 SP1) Computer Name C4N5F8 User Name PC Motherboard: CPU Type Intel Celeron-A, 533 MHz (8 x 67) Motherboard Name MSI MS-6117 (2 ISA, 5 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DIMM) Motherboard Chipset Intel 82440LX System Memory 512 MB (SDRAM) BIOS Type Award Modular (06/16/98) Communication Port Communications Port (COM1) Communication Port Communications Port (COM2) Communication Port Printer Port (LPT1) Display: Video Adapter ASUS V3005 (32 MB) 3D Accelerator SiS 300 Multimedia: Audio Adapter Creative ViBRA16C Audio Adapter Storage: Floppy Drive GENERIC NEC FLOPPY DISK Disk Drive GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE47 Optical Drive TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-M1202 (5x/32x DVD-ROM) Partitions: C: (FAT32) 3073 MB (2442 MB free) Input: Keyboard Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard Mouse PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port |

| 185035 | 2003-10-20 08:14:00 | > Do you think a Pentium 3, 450mhz would work? after 333mhz the pentium went to 100mhz front side bus & the celeron remained at 66mhz FSB. Your Mobo only supports 66mhz FSB :( so celeron is only choice sorry. I'm not sure if celeron above 333mhz are available in slot 1 ? Perhaps someone who is watching this thread will know. Cheers Steve |
