185031 2003-10-20 08:07:00 Yes this board only takes slot 1 ,The 533 celeron I was given was already attached to a socket 370 -slot 1 converter.
I think its called a slocket?

Anyway heres a bit of info about my MS-6117.
I set the dip switchs on the mobo to 333mhz .

Cheers Steve
PS: flashing the bios is not as major as it sounds. except if you use a file intended for another mobo or you have a power failure :-(
If you do stuff it up you havent lost anything of value & you will gain from the experience

after 333mhz the pentium went to 100mhz front side bus & the celeron remained at 66mhz FSB.
Your Mobo only supports 66mhz FSB :( so celeron is only choice sorry.

I'm not sure if celeron above 333mhz are available in slot 1 ? Perhaps someone who is watching this thread will know.

185036 2003-10-20 08:29:00 Ah hang on, I need a convertor thing as you said in your other post.

Can't seem to find one of those one trademe.

Anyone here have one I could buy?

And maybe a celeron 533 while your at it?

Do you think I could go higher than 533?

Not sure if you could, MSI only say 433mhz
Only reason I found out it could run a 533 was Terry Porritt gave me a dead Mobo with the Slocket & the 533 :)

185038 2003-10-20 09:21:00 If I ruin it in the flash thing, then, can i just buy a new motherboard? mejobloggs (264)

Yes of course, but that will cost you $$$ and plenty of time.

185040 2003-10-20 22:15:00 Slockets are rought less than $30, I think I had the exact same board, not sure, but I ran a 433 celery using a slocket. Kame (312)
