| 185270 | 2003-10-20 22:49:00 | would a pentium 4. 56k modem fast enough to do video conferencing? I was wondering how slow it will be.has anybody tried it? I know that u need at least a jet stream connection etc to ahve video conferencing.My friend would use windows xp and msn messenger to do the conferencing. I wonder how fast 56k would be.Any idea how fast it would be? |

But you dont I wouldn't say that a P4 and lots of ram would make no difference, because it will make some (yeah I know, I'm being really picky tonight)... but I agree, webcam through dial-up works fine. :) Mike. |

| 185274 | 2003-11-01 09:51:00 | i just set up a web cam on a mates 1gig duron 256meg ram pc and on an EXCELLENT 56k modem it works ok....video a bit glitchy but different apps behave diffenently. unfortunatly we didn't have the mics going so i don't know yet how much difference it will make. | tweak'e (174) | ||
| 185275 | 2003-11-01 10:17:00 | Ideally you need 192MB RAM on a P2 500 or AMD system equiv. running apps make a big difference. 56K is alright for voice, but vid is going to look a lot like a slideshow.. it is acceptable though, I've gotten 2x fps on MSN before! |
