185904 2003-10-23 08:42:00 I'm running the latest version of Opera, and Opera has been my sole browser for a while now( apart from a quick look at Firebird) so I don't know if this happens with other browsers. I'm on dailup.

The thing is, I notice often when I click on a link the page will sometimes come down lightening fast; well at least the main body of the site anyway; then the whole screen clears and the site is then rendered at a slower pace. I have tweaked/optimised my system to a fair degree and I am more than happy with Operas' speed, but can't help wondering what causes this effect, and is it possible to make it work the first time without clearing the screen(dreams the impossible dream(256K @56k prices)).

Anyone else get this?

185906 2003-10-24 07:02:00 Its a clean machine. (I just checked, again)I have noticed this effect over time(months), with different versions of Opera, but it may not be an Opera thing? I guess its not a nasty, as I'm pretty fussy, and the speed with which the initial download goes at, plus the subsequent rerender is REALLY fast. The initial download and show is less than 1 second, and maybet the subsequent normal render time for Opera, a few seconds depending on the site and its size. Maybe its the effect of an optomised code to download the main portion of the page while the rest(secondary stuff) loads up, plus a combination of large cache, and buffer sizes??? Rod ger (316)
185907 2003-11-06 23:15:00 Opera has a very good cache memory and if you have been to that site before chances are it is loading back most stuff from your HDD then it updates some additional deyail at a slower speed . It is very good when you use the back button to view previous pages , kiwibeat (304)
185908 2003-11-07 02:14:00 Well I found a link in the Opera website to fix it and posted earlier in a seperate post as I thought it would be of general interest here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz)
