How long has it been an offence to buy (and declare to customs) books, magazines, movies, PC equipment etc from overseas?? (excluding certain genre of books, films etc that may be banned) Have I missed some new law? Where are you getting your info from? |

| 185652 | 2003-10-22 07:38:00 | You are kidding! That's going to make people download them and worse! So the local distributor misses out but the licensor still gets money if you buy overseas. Does this mean my friend that is bringing the Young Ones DVD (released August 18) over in December from England is going to the slammer to get done over by Mr Big who's in with the warders? What a crock. robo. |

Until its publically available asking questions about it is likely to be fruitless. If you cannot buy the items in NZ as you say though, I would ask how bringing them into NZ for your own use could be parallel importing? Parallel to what? Its called parallel importing where you are bringing them into the country in parallel with the recognised distributor. If they are available here, then buy them here. If not, ask the lawmakers, but get all your facts straight before you do. (Titles, distributor, country of origin, authenticity etc). If its from an Asian country, expect to have a problem. How can you warrant they are not copies of the real thing? There may be severe penalties for bringing in counterfeit items. Keep checking the Ministry page (MED) |
