186412 2003-10-25 02:08:00 To insert pictures into a word document are fine, but certain pictures do not allow you to type over. (Draw/Text Wrapping/Behind text). When this method is followed, in print preview everything looks hankey dorey, but when you print it, only the picture (pre-selected as watermark) prints out without the text. Any suggestions? 186413 2003-10-25 03:31:00 Graphics and word processors don't always get along that well in my experience (nightmares). I've found the Word MVP (www.mvps.org) site an invaluable source of info.

Which version of Word are you using? Scouse (83)
186415 2003-10-25 04:27:00 I would presume that word can only manipulate pictures in certain formats,so have a look at which type it works with and convert the pics that are causing trouble into that format. metla (154)
186416 2003-10-25 06:31:00 Another alternative as printing seems to be the problem this is straight from Word help...

You might be printing in draft mode. To print the borders and graphics in the document, click Options on the Tools menu, click the Print tab, and then clear the Draft output check box.

Post back if this works or not. I would also be interested in the image file types where you have trouble. Meanwhile, I better turn on the TV and watch Wellington win the NPC final (I hope) :-)

186417 2003-10-25 09:21:00 Thanks Murray P. It's an excellent site, but couldn't find the answer to my problem. Jakkie (1395)
186418 2003-10-25 09:24:00 I use Word 2000, OS ME. I cannot determine what sort of picture is causing the problem. Can you suggest what I must do to find this? Selecting the picture and then properties, don't give anything away. Jakkie (1395)
186419 2003-10-25 09:30:00 Thanks Parry. No, draft mode was not selected. I can't determine what picture format it is. Properties don't reveal anything.

Eat your heart out! Auckland was the winners!!

186420 2003-10-25 10:00:00 After that comment, not sure I should offer help....but since the best team wasn't playing anyway:

If the option is there under your printer properties, try choosing "print true type fonts as graphics"

I have had this happen, and this was one cure.

You cant tell what the original image format was from Word, only from the file imported. What was that? If GF's idea doesnt work & as a last resort you could insert a text box over the picture, type in your text then make the background of the box transparent.

Bloody Auckland! They deserved to win, their defense was much better than Wgtn's and that made all the difference. As a Wellington rugby and Liverpool soccer supporter Im used to saying 'theres always next year' :-)
