186045 2003-10-23 22:56:00 I currently have a PC running XP, my older computer has Win 98. My win 98 computer has some files that I want to transfer to my XP PC. I set up a direct cable connection between these two computers and I enabled sharing on the Win 98 files. Now my problem is that the computers connect, but I cant see either PC on either machine bob2003 (4770)
186046 2003-10-23 23:10:00 Hi Bob2003,
Welcome to PressF1.

Firstly, how do you know the two are connected correctly?
Secondly, with DCC, IIRC You simply have access to one "Shared" folder on the other machine in which you can place the files you want. Im pretty sure its on a totally different wavelentgh from Network shares if that's what you're after.

Hope this helps

If you have a CD writer - I had similar needs some time ago - transfering from 98SE to XP PRO.
I simply took the CD writer from the XP machine, installed it temporarily in the 98 to write up all the files I wanted. Then copied from the CD to the new machine. After all was done, I replaced the writer in the new machine. Did it a couple of times to transfer odd bits and pieces.
