185995 2003-10-23 19:18:00 I wish to partition my 2 x 120Gb HDD's, but Partition Magic inform me that they do not support SATA drives (which these are).

Does anyone know of software that does support SATA?

185996 2003-10-23 21:31:00 What version of Windows? Are these new hard drives or do they have data currently on them? Fire-and-Ice (3910)
185997 2003-10-24 00:30:00 What version of Partition Magic? Is it v8.01? PoWa (203)
185998 2003-10-24 00:39:00 The drives came with my new system, so the only thing loaded is Windows XP Pro .... but I can reinstall that easily enough. Gerard P (4509)
185999 2003-10-24 00:40:00 The people at Partition Magic informed me that they don't support SATA yet, so I don't think it matters which version it is. Gerard P (4509)
186000 2003-10-24 00:48:00 Does the partitioner which comes with Windows XP work with the SATA disks? If so, why not use it?

Partition Magic etc were created because they did things that the MS ones wouldn't . If that doesn't hold, it's not compulsory to use the thrid party one . :D

186001 2003-10-24 03:07:00 Have you tried the disc manafacturers site ? They may have a tool for the job.

186002 2003-10-24 18:41:00 I use a partioning/imaging software called "bootit ng" www.bootitng.com Yes it will do both partitioning and imaging. It does not run from inside windows, but it is still very easy to use (the whole software fits on one floppy or CDR), just go to the site which has all the help you need, including a downloadable PDF manual. Also it is quite reasonably priced ($34.95 US).
The software creat's a boot menu which will list all your available OS's (I am only using XP). So you get a lot for your money.

I use it on a 120GB SATA seagate harddrive. I have not had to partition my hardrive since I purchased the software, the partitions show up fine in the program and I have used it to image my drive, no problem.
They state in there "FAQ" section that if the hardrive is mapped to the BIOS it will work fine.

Anyway I find this software excellent value and easy to use.

Hope this helps.

186003 2003-10-24 19:15:00 What does "hardrive mapped to the BIOS " mean?

I have 2 x 120Gb HDD's and am using just WindowsXP Pro

186004 2003-10-24 19:48:00 I beleive it just means that as long as the BIOS can see the Hard drive it should work. I'm no expert, so I would suggest have a read of the help at the site.
