We welcome applications from everyone who has what it takes, regardless of their culture, faith, gender or sexuality." ...and in case you're worried that "actively seeking" means anything other than "please, everyone who wants to, apply!" "Will size, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious beliefs affect my application? None of these things will affect your application. New Zealand Police values what you bring to the job as an individual. A retired policeman I know said to me once that having a mixture of ethnic origins is great It can avoid so many misunderstandings and is to the benefit of all who have dealings with them, whether it be for minor or major happenings. 1325910	2013-01-31 02:06:00	They should have entry exams and tests including a fitness test and take the people who score the highest marks. All this means is that fit White males who score high entry test marks will be ditched for races who scored lower on the tests. Letting in short or skinny people will endanger their health later on because the crooks will take them on. Unless the polezei are relying on tazer pepper spray and shooter to even the physical differences out. But in my experience weak people even with a gun are not respected, they will get the gun whipped from them and used on them	prefect (6291)

They said that they are trying to make the police more closely reflect the profile of the population, not this group of students did. Out of 40 first years, that would mean, what, 18 are from Asian, Pacific or Maori backgrounds. I think have an extra 18 police of diverse backgrounds may well, depending on the current ratio of cultural backgrounds (and not forgetting those who have multiple) may well help move the police force to a profile that helps them deal with New Zealanders of all types of background and understand any cultural issues that may help or hinder police efforts. You want 12 on a wings course take the best 150 the country can offer and put them through a selection course then take best 12, regardless of race. And its pass fail even if the whole course fails which has happened. They dont go change the course difficulty to let impaired people fly. And you have some evidence that the police force do not take the best? Don't tell me you're assuming that police officers who are non-european are not qualified? It can't be that they are selected by quota - because they aren't, so I'm not sure what you are saying. they state OUTRIGHT that they don't take by race, so I have no idea where you get the idea that they do.
