1325812 2013-01-31 16:10:00 Am thinking of getting this www.morrellmotors.co.nz

It seems like a good deal, but will get an AA inspection done just to be sure.
I'll be taking it for a test drive either later on today, or tomorrow.

1325813 2013-01-31 17:18:00 They get generally good reviews www.carsurvey.org

See it was imported 5 years ago and seems to have very low Km,s for the year,as it has a cam belt I would have a Honda Franchise to check it over rather than AA(I am a member of AA as well)

1325815 2013-01-31 20:35:00 Looks good - very low KMs for age, I would get the speedo checked. (AA check covers this I think?)

www.carjam.co.nz

There is the carjam report.

Not sure what you own at the moment, but those older 2l CRVs are not that great on fuel.

I appreciate your reply.
Yes, Morrell Motors is a Honda franchise and they said they will replace the cam belt now, as the kms are getting up to the 100 thousand mark. They are also going to replace the thermostat, and do the brakes.
My only concern really is its age, 1997. But is it still a good buy, and do you think I should still need to get AA to have a look?

1325817 2013-01-31 20:46:00 Looks like a good vehicle, and seems to be a fair and honest selling company. Honda do keep their dealers up to scratch. An AA inspection would do no harm if it helps your confidence in the purchase. I have had 4 Honda cars and never had a problem with any of them. I would probably have another except I bought a BMW instead. Richard (739)

Thank you, that is very helpful and will definitely consider getting a carjam report.
Present car is 1990 Honda Accord and is probably only worth about $1500 - $2000. It has done 312,000 kms. Its due for new cam belt and was quoted around $817 just for parts. No brainer really, time to lose it and get another, lol!

Oh dear me Richard. Have to tell you this one...had just had my gas cylinder filled and looking to drive away, a ute backed up a bit to let me out. Quick as a flash a BMW jumped into the gap and stopped me moving out. When I finally got moving I stopped beside the ute and thanked the driver for his good intentions. he then asked me...

what is the difference between a hedgehog and a BMW.....

with the hedgehog, all the pricks are on the outside.

No offence Richard, I just thought that was funny!

1325820 2013-01-31 23:09:00 According to the Consumer car database Honda Civic come out quite well. They get the worth considering star and are placed above average for reliability of both brand and model. Bobh (5192)
1325821 2013-01-31 23:56:00 I'd get an independent workshop to look at it if you are after a 3rd party inspection. AA mechanical checks barely scratch the surface and are more interested in finding dents in panels or marks on the seats. Alex B (15479)
