But I find it difficult to have sympathy for people who ring and expect a tradesman right now, today. Husband gets that a lot, and of course, they always point out what a simple, cheap, fast job it is too. One, when he said he couldn't do it that day, asked if he could make it next year. Sarcasm. Husband is too polite, I know what I'd say to the must be done this instant and it's so cheap and easy people. |

But I find it difficult to have sympathy for people who ring and expect a tradesman right now, today. Why? If someone makes an appointment I expect them to keep it, or cancel in advance. I don't give a rat's ass what day it is today, if an agreement was made they should honour it. If they were incapable of honouring it, they shouldn't have made it anyway. At the end of the day it's courtesy and professionalism that they seemed to have lacked. Also, OP has come off very harsh here. If he/she was the same on the phone, hell I can even understand why someone would have hung up on you (I wouldn't provide any explanation if someone shouted at me, in fact I'd say terrible things to you). Need to chill, life goes on. |

As this thread is overly critical and attempts to assassinate a valid business on fairly feeble grounds of complaint I'd have to move that this thread gets deleted. It's not like the car was worked on and returned unsafe, or that there's a flood of other dissatisfied customers, it's just one person who doesn't see reason when a serviceman is busy / prioritising his work. x1 yes this thread should be deleted its disgusting. They are slanging off at a business, the car still goes the mechanic will need to be paid 1.5 wages and a day off. I really wonder about a certain moderator here. I work on public holidays buts is $350 to walk out of my door and put my boots on and I dont go unless its urgent. God give me strength. |

God give me strength. But when you promise someone that you'll go and do the job at a certain time, do you back out of it? Moreso do you back out of it without letting your customer know? I have a feeling you wouldn't. |

While on the whole I agree with you how often do you get to the Doctors and have to wait longer than fifteen minutes and that isn't even in the comfort of your own home where you can get on with life.:horrified For one it was not a proper working day so they wouldn't be fully staffed and we all know that that type of appointment will never be precise as they never know how long previous calls are going to take. They did say around 1pm and she couldn't even wait more than 15 minutes. We also don't know what was said on the phone and considering she signed up and posted her moan within half an hour of the appointed time we can only jump to conclusions besides that fact that I am always suspicious of first time posters that are slagging off a company. |

I work on public holidays buts is $350 to walk out of my door and put my boots on and I dont go unless its urgent. God give me strength. Hi prefect, I assume you're referring to me there? :-) I assure you that whether I'm considering this OP, comments and experiences with Wainuitech's posts about Norton in AV threads, lantech's recent comment on the "techy in Picton" thread, or any other post in the forums that could be considered "slanging off at a business", I evaluate it on several criteria. I have to do training in defamation law as part of my job. Judgement about a post like this falls under that - I have to decide whether, as publisher, it is acceptable, or would cause unjustified damage to the business in question. To do that, I assess whether the comments are specific, whether they are true, whether it's an honestly held opinion, and what imputations a reader would take from that post and the thread as a whole about the business in question. While the initial post in and of itself was troubling, it referred only to a single missed appointment and the OPs frustration therein. In addition, the responses have, I think, resulted in a thread that is balanced and look at things from the business' point of view. Hence: OK. If this became more common in the forums, however, I would clamp down on it. I have, on occasion, been asked by a business to remove older posts (like 2007 and before) that feature too highly in Google searches, so I weight that in my decision too. I hope that helps. You're welcome to ask for clarification if any future post gives you concerns. |
