| 1325726 | 2013-01-31 03:07:00 | Yeah Magnets are basically torrents but without requiring you to "download" the .torrent You'll still get caught if you fire up uTorrent and use a Magnet link to the latest Hobbit film... So don't do it ;) |

| 1325728 | 2013-01-31 03:56:00 | What is the legality of downloading from Utube? There must be some material on Utube that is copyrighted, full length movies for instance. | Bobh (5192) | ||
| 1325729 | 2013-01-31 04:12:00 | There is but its not explicitly defined under this new law, just under traditional laws. You can do it and there's no real way for anybody to know if you're using something like savemedia.com vs just straight streaming it, and you won't get caught under this new law. | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||

| 1325731 | 2013-01-31 05:52:00 | Well, this conversation helped remind me that I still had more seeding to do. I d/l'd some albums I already own, from 30 years ago, on vinyl. Couldn't be bothered to dig out the record, or to find the rips I'd made of them, so I got them via a torrent. Not expecting any drama with 30 year old media, and still not even had a first strike, so I'm happy to do much as I have done above. And not happy to pay for fresh copies of content I've already bought. Lets see, the greedy RIAA wants me to buy it on vinyl, then buy it on cassette, then buy it on CD, then buy it on video DVD, then buy it again as mp3 or similar. I don't get paid over and over for my works, so why should the RIAA. Does the guy who designed the lid on the milk bottle get paid every time you open and close the bottle? Do you have to pay Fontera a milk bottle royaly if you re-use your milk bottle for a boat bailer? So why does the RIAA expect to get paid for every which way you play content you already own? Rant over. Getting 'latest' or 'popular' media via an open torrent however is asking for trouble. |

If the pesron wanted the song bad enough why download it when you can go onto the Marbecks Digital website and buy the song/s legally. | QW. (15883) | ||

Usually because all you can buy is a crappy MP3 version not a decent .flac version |
