2013-02-01 07:36:00 | Those Ni-cad AA's disappeared off the face of the earth. There must have been a reason. Yuasa make motor bike batteries as well. How many of those do we hear about blowing up. No I think its in the charging system. But you'd think that that Japanese airline that replaced 10 of them must have had some suspicions? Hey Fuso, "Nip" down to the wholessler and get another battery please.

2013-02-01 09:44:00 | I think there was a US case where a lab technician blew up his company's lab testing a Ni-cad, and was taken to court for not charging it properly, as there are different ways to charge it. | kahawai chaser (3545) | |

2013-02-01 10:25:00 | I scored 10 failed ni cad cells from the moon goons, made up a plywood box and linked then together with strips of dural for our boat tractor. It was a David Brown 25 originally the lead acid battery was along the side of the tractor but in an incident at Ruakaka the battery went under seawater, that was the end of that battery. Made a battery box cum seat the new ni cads right under your backside. Worked well unless the tractor had been sitting around for a while when it was slow to start. I remember vividly saying please god start as the I could hear the dud cells bubbling and hissing under the seat I was sitting on. How ever when it started there was no way the ol Lucas generator was going to overcharge the nicads! | prefect (6291) | |
2013-02-01 10:56:00 | www.elektor-projects.com Li-ion cells are trouble makers and we as electronic engineers know why don't we? If you really know why and if you have ideas or suggestions of how to get the Dreamliner's Li-ion problems solved, please tell us about it.

Then you will have electrical redundancy for Africa, generator on each engine, two on the APU and your cheap batteries to start the APU and used to stabilize the voltage and power the standby AHI. If that not enough fit a RAT. |
