1349430 2013-07-19 11:59:00 Hi all,

I know the title is a bad way to start things off as it will turn into some heated debate. But with telecom at the moment i get about a 12 Mbps download speed and 0.79 Mbps upload speed. Is this alright or slow? Some of my games i get terrible pings even with NZ/AU servers. Are there any ISP's that you would recommend?

Thanks in advance

1349433 2013-07-20 00:23:00 I gone thru a few diff ISPs when they had specials and free modems :D

Not tried Telecom. Tried Orcon, Xnet, Actrix, Telstraclear on ADSL and now Snap Fiber.
IMO - ADSL Actrix was the best and Snap Fiber good too but cannot compare evenly as it's Fiber.

But 12Mbps is prerty good is that via Speedtest? I've been syching my router (check the settings) at 20Mbps but my speeds were like 15Mbps via Speedtest generally althou could hit 8Mbps when I was with Telstraclear / Orcon at the busy times. Actrix was a bit more consistent maybe 4 or 5 faster. With Fiber Snap, 30Mbps, I get a tested 28 or 29 incl at busy times.

1349434 2013-07-20 00:55:00 We can't compare ADSL with fibre, can we?

If you're getting that speed with your current Telecom, I do not think that you will be better off (in terms of speed) with any others.

Of course, you can try them out one by one if you have the time and patience to go through all the hassles. Anyway, decision is yours.
