2003-10-27 04:11:00 | im on paradise 56k recently came back to paradise, because slingshot was SO CRAP and the helpdesk at 2$ a minute just suggested to download modem drivers..(which all ppl say to do when they dont know ) paradise 56k in Dunedin-good only once its stopped going like you say. when i had slingshot flat rate,it was like that 10x redials, then it kicks u off,or it seems to work, but does 2.5% modem usage and nothing happens..im glad i got rid of it..yet paradise works fine on same pc ,perfect something will cause it-not sure what. ive heard stories of ppl with crappy phonelines that dont agree with a certain isp,im not sure. *needs to know more about this subject*

2003-10-27 05:00:00 | I'm on Paradise 256k cable & lately over past few weeks opening web pages has taken forever, It's been ok for last few days & downloads have been fine. A friend of ours has just gone from cable back to dialup with paradise & says there is no difference opening pages between the cable & dialup. Cheers Steve

2003-10-27 19:39:00 | I presume your seeing 40,000 bps on the connection which is slow but not so bad as your symtoms indicate. Just as a test, try Opera, off a PC World CD will save you a download, and see if that makes any difference. This will eliminate any problems with IE. Also set your E-mail to check every 5 mins this will help keep your connection "live".

2003-10-27 20:00:00 | Jetstart to Paradise lower North Island and never had problems. There doesn't really seem to be a common thread here, i.e. if it's bad for one customer it should basically be bad for all. What about Telecom being the real cause, you have to connect through their DSLAM, etc ? How about getting your lines checked, etc ?? Crunn

2003-10-27 21:19:00 | Consider this...from Christchurch I have 56kb dial up and have been on Paradise for a year or so. The only times we've had speed issues have been when the kids have been connected. They use IE. I used Netscape and recently converted to Mozilla. Them shutting down IE and me firing up either Netscape or Mozilla returned the connection to full speed. This speed thing really only became evident about 8 weeks ago when we got one of those damned homepage hijacking things on IE. (Don't seem to infect browsers other than IE) Are you people who are having these problems all using IE? Do you have a hijacking program doing it's evil work there? You may think you have it removed because it's not redirecting your homepage but the file may still be on your system. As someone else suggested, try Opera...or Mozilla before blaming the ISP.
