186558	2003-10-26 20:35:00	Is there anyway of knowing what firmware version should be on the router? Gx1x2220.R08 is the version I got off the net and re loaded. Could this be the problem?	Andy_G (4776)

That address is the result of Windows not successfully getting a DHCP address. The 169.254.xxx.xxx address is randomly generated by windows when DHCP fails. If you were able to access the modem via the CLI cable, and it seems to be operating, there must be some reason you aren't getting a successful DHCP. Try going to command prompt and doing: ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew See if it successfully gets a DHCP allocated IP address which should be in the range 192.168 etc etc provided the modem is on normal config. Failing that you could try manually setting the IP address, gateway etc of your machine and try accessing the modem that way. That or try changing some of the modem parameters using the CLI cable - it's possible DHCP may have been disabled.	whiskeytangofoxtrot (438)

186561	2003-10-27 07:42:00	I am finally back up and running...THANK YOU I tried manually configuring the IP address to connect to 192.168.1.1 and was able to get the main page for the router settings up. Still could not connect to the internet though, I then changed one setting at a time until I connected, don't ask which one made it work it was a hit and miss affair. I thought it was the DHCP that was off on the router but I have since turned it back off and it makes no difference. At the end of the day I was just holding my tongue wrong. : ) Thanks again	Andy_G (4776)
