186521 2003-10-25 10:55:00 hi all,
I have signed up for freemail from Orcon. Seemed straight forward.

I have been playing around trying to check some test emails using webmail but I get an error "......Invalid Inbox" I checked all possible settings several times but cant see anything obvious. I can compose and send emails without problem but just cant seem to receive.

I created new account with Outlook and did the test thing which worked ok, but when I tried to check emails I get repeated requests to enter password (which I check and double check as being valid) but no success.

I connect to internet via Xtra jetstart. Is this the reason why?

Also, I have free website with them as well and have been playing around with some Macromedia "Flash" stuff that I want to put on there but I cant seem to upload it. Is this because orcon wont allow because I am on free account? I have considered paying them to host my site (only $32 per year) but if I do so will that allow me to upload "flash" stuff.

I have had a bit of a surf on their site to find answers but I found their site is not that easy to navigate around to find info I want, (maybe it's just me but I find their layout and links are not user friendly)

thanks

186522 2003-10-25 11:22:00 Hi Sam,

Could it be that you're trying to use a "Redirect" email as opposed to your primary one (Which is your login name by default)?

It wont actually make a user for all your 'secondary' accounts, rather just redirect it to your primary users mailbox.

186523 2003-10-25 11:51:00 If you are connected with Xtra then that IS why. Xtra will not allow you to collect or send emails to and from another isp email server, they are real pathetic like that. It used to only be that you couldn't send an email through another email server (which , while i still found annoying and petty on xtra behalf, I could understand) then Xtra went and did the real big dirty and block you from even being able to check your emails from another isp email server. In my opinion Xtra are SCUM and are so afarid of their competition they feel it nescessary to block all of their customers from being able to do ANYthing that isn't Xtra related, that is why I dumped them and will Never Go back. 186524 2003-10-25 12:26:00 will that even prevent me using webmail odin? sam m (517)
186525 2003-10-25 14:07:00 It shouldn't prevent Webmail if that is happening then I'd suggest emailing Orcon and see what they can tell you. Odin (227)
186526 2003-10-25 20:47:00 I have an Orcon free e-mail address.

I have no trouble collecting e-mail via pop3, and I am on Xtra Jetstream.
I do not send via SMTP, as that is denied unless you connect via Orcon.

Using webmail everything works fine, both send and receive.

I use Eudora as an e-mail client, and have it set up as a separate persona.

I know you can upload flash stuff to orcon, because I have seen flash on two "free" orcon accounts, do you get any error messages when you try & upload the flash stuff???

186528 2003-10-25 23:17:00 might try another email client to see if that works.

any ideas about the webhosting question?

I agree fully with Godfather. I am on Xtra, and have absolutely NO problems sending email backwards and forwards from my email accounts on Orcon and Xtra (using Outlook Express)

Odin, I would suggest you check your email preferences as you were completely incorrect and a little bit over the top

186530 2003-10-25 23:23:00 I am not really that clued up with these things as all I do using dreamweaver is import the 'flash' to my index.html, I save and then I click on 'put files' and then an error pops up (I must read it one day) and the only thing that doesnt get uploaded is the flash file.

If you are doing it Stu then it must be me, oh well more reading.

thanks
