This site above recommends that you "install MDAC_TYPE 2.6 from Microsoft, restart PC and that should fix it. if that doesn't work then uninstall IE then install MDAC_TYPE."

186925 2005-03-05 19:10:00 The problem involves the APPWIZ . CPL component, which is invoked by the panel .

If this component is damaged or missing, you will get the error, but its possible its become unregistered .
Get to a command prompt by typing Start - Run - CMD, and at the command prompt type REGSVR32 APPWIZ . CPL .

If this doesn't work try running SFC (System File Checker) with the /SCANNOW option (type SFC /SCANNOW) . You may be asked to provide the Windows OS CD . There is a space after SFC in the command line .


I had the exact same problem . But you second suggestion . SFC / scannow works perfectly . It restored all my programs in the add/remove and now i can uninstall them again
