2003-10-27 03:32:00 | I'm looking at buying a new computer soon. I have looked at www.pp.co.nz and www.e-one.co.nz, and have used the PC Builders to put together a system which I want. They both seem like good companies, as there's nothing suspicious. Has anyone purchased machines from either company, and if so, what were your experiences with them like (in terms of system stability, warranty support etc.)? Otherwise, has anyone got any companies they'd like to recommend, with competitive prices and good service (pre and post-sale service)?

2003-10-27 03:44:00 | Mandatory "where should I buy x" thread per week now satisfied... 1. Use the Search 2. Ascent (http://www.ascent.co.nz) has extremely fair prices, second to none customer service. Only place I buy from now - too many of the smaller cheaper places *cough* e-one *cough* and *cough* dragon *cough* tend to have extremely poor service, and less than acceptable business practices.

2003-10-27 03:54:00 | I ordered the bulk of my new system components from http://www.pp.co.nz/ (Paradigm PCs). I found their service quick and professional, I was sent emails notifiying me of my order's progress as well as the courier tracking service. The goods arrived securely wrapped and all in one piece. I haven't needed to contact them again, so I don't know how their follow-up services is for problems. I certainly would order from them again. Jen

2003-10-27 05:57:00 | If I could recommend my company (:D) Electronic Developments... I use the best matched components that I can. And I can make a computer to your specifications, price range, or what you intend to use it for. Custom built so to speak. And if it breaks down within 12 months (which you and I don't want) of buying it, I'll fix it for free. Otherwise I recommend QMB Computers in Mt Roskill. I got all my bits for my custom built computer from there... they're great. My friend had faulty RAM. Took it back and they replaced it straight away. They have 12 months warranty on everything. I hope I'm not breaking pressf1 rules by posting this... ?:| .hamstar

2003-10-27 06:42:00 | I am guilty of starting one of these threads lol. I purchased from QMB. All done via email, arranged to collect in Auckland when there later in the week. Called them up 30 mins before arriving, collected the goods and paid. Shop a bit chaotic, but Johhny and Paul are good guys. I felt very welcome, lots of hand shaking :) Great prices. I emailed Johnny a day later with a CPU frequency question, which he replied to promptly with an answer. They get my vote J :D

2003-10-27 06:54:00 | Paradigm PC's very good service and prompt, free delivery. I've also tried ascent in the last week and they are very good. Although, on the signup form I typed in my mobile phone number, then the next morning a guy from ascent rings me up to confirm my order on my landline phone # which I didn't even provide. Freaky as. Although I didn't mind, but thought it a little weird they would need to backtrace my address to ring my landline.

2003-10-27 07:13:00 | I purchased my case from Paradigm PCs & a few weeeks ago the PSU Fan & chassis fan started making a noise, I dropped them off at their store in Newlands & a few days later the courier dropped off the repaired/ replaced items at my address & no charge to me. Good service in my books. Cheers Steve
