2003-10-28 18:51:00 | hi, my mouse has recently started playing up. Single clicks act like a double click, so when I am closing 1 tab in mozilla, it closes 2, and when I am trying to select stuff, it deselects. When I am playing rise of nations and I select a unit, it selects all units of that type (that is the function of double clicking) This has only just started happening. I don't have a virus, and this is driving me crazy. It doesn't happen all the time, about 60% Help would be appreciated.

Also check the wires going into the mouse and the computer - they may be a bit loose, although once again that normally makes the mouse not work. One more thing to try is going into mouse properties in Control Panel and doing the mouse double-click speed test to see if it has somehow adjusted itself. |

2003-10-29 03:21:00 | Cleaning the mouse rollers does not help the button switches. They are microswitches. I once replaced one in the days when a cheap mouse cost $50. :D That's a Good Idea about the Control Panel mouse page. She's not just a pretty face. ;-)

2003-10-29 04:04:00 | A quick Mouse search on pricespy shows a new mouse starts at About $7.00 (cheaper than a micro switch) If you replace your mouse I would recomend an optical mouse.Prices start at about $18.50 If you go into control panel - Mouse there is an option to swap the mouse click functions from left to right, swapping the buttons is a good idea to try as I doubt both micro switchs are faulty. I had a Dexxa optical mouse that did the same thing & it was very annoying when you wanted to open IE from the quick launch & 2 pages would open. Cheers Steve

2003-10-29 04:27:00 | thanks man, I switched them and the right mouse button works. Time to get a new mouse, I'll pick one up tomorrow after school. | Wilky (776) | |
2003-11-03 06:52:00 | Problem solved! I "fixed" the mouse so my parents could be persuaded to get a new one. Lets just say that I now know what a micro-button looks like. I now have a Microsoft Intelimouse Explorer
