187347 2003-10-28 18:16:00 Hi Guys

Just to let you know that nVidia has released
new drivers (called Forceware). Now, although
these drivers improve performance in DirectX 9
games, nVidia did not optimise the drivers for
OpenGL games.

Now, if you are asking where this is going... I
have Homeworld 2, an OpenGL based game, from
Relic. The new nVidia drivers actually DEGRADE
graphical performance (at least for this game).
For the moment - until a newer driver is released
optimised for both OpenGL and DirectX 9 - stick
with the older Detonator drivers. The game plays
much better this way.

If you don't have any OpenGL games, then by all
means get the new drivers - they will improve
performance for DX 9 games.

Just my 2Cents

Any word on performance for general-use as opposed to the Detonators, coz I've noticed a fair few issues with WinXP in the latest Detonator-set.

I was having shutdown issues mainly, but scrolling in things like IE had troubles too... This was with the 45.23 Driver Set I believe... I went back to 44.03 coz they were working better.

My bad with the numbers....
