187284 2003-10-28 09:47:00 I have reformatted a laptop from WIN ME to XP and wanted to remove WWW.Tiny.com from coming up when PC is starting up.
The software must be on the mother board to remain after format,is it in the bios and if so is it something that can be turned off.
The reason I want to remove it is I feel it is causing start up problems and I thought it may look for old operating system as well on startup and when its not there give me blue screens.
any help thanks,
John.

187285 2003-10-28 10:18:00 The graphics must be in the BIOS, if its there as its booting.

Look for a BIOS option to suppress the splash screen or similar.

187287 2003-10-28 10:36:00 Isn't it a bit strange a website URL comes up as your splash screen?

Do you have a Pheonix BIOS? If you do a google on "PhoenixNet-enabled" you will see what I mean.

187289 2003-10-28 20:26:00 most manafactures have bios tools that enable you to customise the boot screen so you can make it what ever you want (with size limits of course). tweak'e (174)
187290 2003-10-28 20:33:00 I am hoping its something I can turn off,Is it possible there is other things trying to launch on boot up that may give me blue screens.

187291 2003-10-28 21:22:00 If it's in the bios code, then as tweake indicated special tools are needed, like cbrom.exe and modbin.exe. Use of these is not advisable as the slightest error can cause the bios to be inoperable. To experiment with bios code to change logos and brand screens (like Compaq, IBM and HP use) you really need a dual bios system, so that recovery can be possible.

It is odd though, having a web site built in like that, also it's a UK PC firm, so where did it come from?

187292 2003-10-28 21:47:00 Is it a boot graphics once you've switched the computer on? e.g. a splash screen that hides what goes on with the BIOS and not the screen that's hiding what goes on with Windows?

Some vendors had an option to turn it off, others don't which means you'd had to 'hack' the BIOS, maybe tweak would be a better word. If you can provide more information on the BIOS, a BIOS string (although a bit hard to see with graphics over the top), model of your laptop/series etc.

I don't think the BIOS graphic would affect your operating system as it's use is to hide BIOS information it has no other effect, you may need to update your BIOS though, incase it's not fully supported by XP if you believe the BIOS is the cause of the problem.

www tiny.com is a UK based computer manufacturer
