| 187359 | 2003-10-28 06:38:00 | Ahh. I just got Mandrake 9.2 from Xsolutions, but I can't install it. I get to where you choose the mouse, so I choose the mouse, then click next, it tests it, and its ok, so next. It comes up with please wait. And I am still waiting. Been waiting for about half an hour. Knoppix didnt seem to work either. It still does this if I choose no mouse, so its nothing to do with the mouse i dont think. The CD's do work, well the knoppix one does anyway, because I am posting this from another computer, with knoppix running. Any ideas? AAARRRGHGHGHH! I have been wanting linux for ages! |

| 187362 | 2003-10-28 09:12:00 | When it gets stuck jump over to the install log and look for any error messages. The logs are accessed by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1 thru F6 and maybe F12. F7 will return you to the installer. Also, can you post what hareware you have and what form of net connection you use. BTW, its not an LG cdrom drive is it? |

| 187366 | 2003-10-29 03:24:00 | ok, firstly thats far too much information. 90% of it is windows configuration rather than hardware or far too low level. - Just incase its a rebadged LG, I assume the acer drive is still working. - Do a search to find out what chip you graphics and sound cards use. Although it would be unusual for it to just sit there if its unsupported (its not frozen right, the mouse still responds?). - How much disk space did you give it, and what partitions did you create? - When it gets stuck have a look for error messages in the logs like I posted above. The reason will most likely be there. |

There are a lot of files with names like INSTALL, README, etc. One of them will tell you what to type when it displays "boot: " as it starts up to do a text installation.
