| 187195 | 2003-10-28 06:13:00 | Hi everyone I am on the verge of getting my new comp .. ( straight after Uni's Exam) and here's my specs: Abit NF7-s Rev 2.0. AXP Barton 2500+ (1.83Ghz 333 FSB) (hopefully can run at 11*200 ; ) Volcano 9 HSF Alumnium Case with 400watt PSU Seagate 120 GB Sata HDD Logitech Z-640 speakers. Gigacube 9800np (only has infineon ram : ( Philips 109P Flat Monitor. PIXEL view TV card. 11 Mbit/s Wireless PCI Lan card x 2 Incase u want to know the price is $$2650 incl GST Now coming to my question, I am planning to get 2 sticks of 256 PC 3200 ram so that I can take advantage of Dual Channel DDR supported on my mobo. The problem is that I really want to get 1 GB of ram, but due to my budget I can't afford to get 2 sticks of 512. So, the question is if I get 2 stick of 256 now, would I be able to stick in another stick of 512 later on.. and still be able to use the Dual Channel DDR feature?? (I.e there will be 3 sticks of ram, 2 x 256 and 1 x 512). That's the main question ... now .. what u guys think of the monitor and the speakers?? I know the speaker is not top of the line ....but hey..is it complete rubbish? or is it decent?? Please feel free to comment on my setup and give recoomendations!! |

| 187196 | 2003-10-28 06:53:00 | It might work, but to be sure you would have to have 2x256, and 2x512 in the right dimm configuration. If you are only having one 512 in then the 256's might still run in dual, but the 512 only in single channel mode. | PoWa (203) | ||

Thats wht i did :D ;) other than that good speakers are a matter of choice. personally i cant stand bad speakers and obviously the more you spend on them, the better quality u will get but i believe u have 2 consider how important sound is for u. |

| 187199 | 2003-10-28 10:35:00 | Wireless Lan card because I have another comp at home rit now which I am going to LAN with, and it's going to be in seperate rooms ..and it's a hassle running wires around the house ... Not going for LCD because for 17inch it's s expensive and the response time is prolly too high for cheapers ones ... since I will be using my comp for gaming as well as work .. I figured a good CRT would do. Anyone has the Z-640 and would like to tell me a lil bit about them?? |

| 187200 | 2003-10-28 10:55:00 | Maybe go for the 802.11g WiFi Standard then? 55mbps instead of 11mbps. What's your budget for a monitor? I have a Direction 17" LCD which rocks for gaming... $499 I think at the time? They are probably cheaper by now anyway... Lo. |

| 187202 | 2003-10-28 12:01:00 | hmm...17 inch Direction LCD ..... Unless I ve checked the wrong model (L7AK2), it has a response time of 30ms !!! that would undoubtedly ghost at almost any games or movies!?!?!?! The cheapest one I found was selling for about 550 +GST... about the same price as my philips.. |

Nope... I'm a pretty intense gamer and haven't got any complaints about my LCD screen... best thing to do is to find a stockist and play an FPS on it. I've tested mine on Vietcong amongst others, and find it absolutely awesome... Lo. |
