187436 2003-10-29 01:39:00 I've just been sorting out my cds and found a few paper cd pockets and a printed page with serials on it...on backs of the paper cd pockets and theres a list on the printed page...
how do i find out which is which game or program? I dnt wanna have to go reinstal every single one of them to find out which is which...

Silly me didnt name the serials or packets so they are unknown,..is there such a easy way to find out which is which? I'll be grateful to know :)

Cheers

187437 2003-10-29 01:56:00 Seems like you'll be busy for a while.

I write all serials on my CDs so I don't have to hunt through all the CD cases looking for it. (I don't put them in alphabetical order, more like wherever it can go in my cd rack order :P)

There's no easy way about it really.

187438 2003-10-29 01:59:00 ok i'll be busy..

but is there a way of knowing if its more likely to be a game serial or a program serial..
like is there a difference between game/program serial?
say a game has all numbers but a program has letters or something...

187439 2003-10-29 02:39:00 Nope. :D

....

I've just backspaced over a suggestion of a procedure which would probably get you the answers. It was a bit naughty. ]:)

187440 2003-10-29 02:57:00 y would it be naughty...
cds and serials are legal...its just a case of matching them....

187441 2003-10-29 03:30:00 The way I didn't post would allow the whole world to have a lot of serial codes to try with any CDs they might "happen to have". I have a wee suspicion that it's only legal if you get the code and the CD at the same time. :D Graham L (2)
187442 2003-10-29 03:36:00 I can vow that allllll my serials apart from 1 is perfectly legal...
the 1 unlegal was i lost my cricket 2002 serial so looked for one...

thats the confusion i have...say u brought a brand new game and it required a serial and u entered but then threw out the box...and then reformatted computer and dammit need the serial....and u go online find one..is that legal?

187443 2003-10-29 03:55:00 If you post what games you need to match up people might be able to post the general form of the keys so you can emilinate a few. They usually use different groupings, and some use only numbers while others include letters.

For example:
Half-life is XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX, all values are [0-9].

Once you're sure, write the key on the CD itself as suggested above.
