187397 2003-10-28 22:24:00 I move the arrow to increase the resolution from 800x600 to say 1024x768,then click apply, all it does is close down and goes back to 800x 600.
What could the matter be?

187398 2003-10-28 22:30:00 Sounds like your video card or monitor may not be able to handle running at a higher resolution.

Try up dating the video card drivers.

187399 2003-10-28 22:42:00 Or try reducing the colour depth, to 24 bit or 16 bit and see if it sticks.

If it does, you either need the correct drivers, or your video adapter/on board chipset has insufficient memory.

If its an on-board chipset adapter, that uses "shared memory", you may be able to allocate more memory to it in the BIOS.

187400 2003-10-28 23:11:00 Also dropping the refresh rate (Hz) can sometimes allow you to run at a higher resolution but this may not be a good option. Too hard on the eyes. Archibald (180)
187401 2003-10-28 23:49:00 Thanks chaps.

Reduced refresh rate from 100 to the one below and am able to increase resolution.

This font of info is wonderful;)
