Not sure what program you would use though. I had thought of transferring my videos (about 48 tapes worth) to disk but have not yet tried it. My video card GainWard FX5900 Ultra has a video in port so just about any software should do it that can record video/audio. Visual Studio would be one that is commercial. I am sure there would be free or shareware ones as well. |

| 187702 | 2003-10-30 12:12:00 | DivX will get you the best results. What quality are you wanting? 400Mb DivX for 45mins (episode length) is watchable, but not best quality if you wanted to store it. How about 800mb an hour, that equals to about 38400mb in 48hrs, so you should have enough hard drive space free. So encode DivX at high definition profile, and at about 1660Kbit/s. That would be really awsome quality. Are you going to cut the ads out? |

Same quality as Sky TV if done properly. 81MB size is watchable again if done properly. If you have to use 800MB for 45 minute just to get watchable you aint doing it right. |

| 187705 | 2003-10-30 13:19:00 | Resizing the capture resolution is always a good one.. You dont need to capture it at 768x540 or whatever the PAL resolution is. 320x240 is bearable on most TV's... Go a lil higher if you wish, but that's the res that a lot of my music vids are at that I get from the P2P networks... *Did I just say that?* |

I've got DivX ones about 400mb and they look a tad blurry but still very good. Maybe its just that I'm watching them on a computer. If I put them back to tv, they would look pretty good. If it were me, I would make an episode about the size of a cd, rather than having 2 episodes on the one cd at degraded quality. Bah, I'm buying the dvd collection one day :) |
