| 187936 | 2003-10-30 13:00:00 | Here's a two in one post> Ive got myself a wireless optical scroll-mouse with an extra two buttons, one on either side of the mouse. Is there any way of setting those up to do anything useful? Next.. A friend has a server PC setup with ssh. He's given me the challenge (In a nutshell) of setting up an ftp server with user-only access. How would I go about doing that? He cant remember what Distro he has coz somebody else set it up for him. Im pretty sure its Debian though. Any ideas? Cheers Chill. |

Hi Chill Take a look at this site: Mouse Support in XFree86 (www.xfree86.org) and specifically this section: Configuration Examples (www.xfree86.org) |

I never found anything, but that was way back, maybe things have changed and progressed. If you find anything I'd be interested to know. |

If it's tpo be for "users" only, don't enable "anonymous" access. root, etc will normally be excluded by having their names in the ftpusers file --- which is probably in /etc, but might be elsewhere with modern versions. :D Make sure the server is started at boot time ... explore in /etc/rc.d, if the installation doesn't do it. |

Next, I wanna be able to set up the WHOLE FTP server without having to become root once, so that throws out editing /etc/rc.d/*** altogether... I just wanna be able to hold an ssh session open long enough for a few files to be sent via ftp. I know there are other ways, but ti was a challenge given to me... and yeah... I'd have to run it on a port higher than 1024 right? |

| 187942 | 2003-10-31 12:04:00 | Ive had two wheels and 4 buttons on an A4Tech mouse... but the wheels were useless without the right drivers and I never really could bother. Mostly I didnt use the second wheel for day-to-day use.. You need more buttons for Gaming and the graphics card on that PC sucked majorly. One wheel for scrolling weapons.. the other for.. inventory? |
