187647 2003-10-29 11:03:00 Having read this (www.theregister.co.uk) I would prefer MS to be put in the sandbox as against the third party apps mikebartnz (21)
187648 2003-10-29 11:12:00 Looks like we may all soon be stuck in the "Sotne-age" of computing if this comes about and they stop releasing upgrades for "Untrusted" or "Insecure" hardware :-( Chilling_Silently (228)
187649 2003-10-29 11:21:00 this makes it look even more scary :(

187650 2003-10-29 11:35:00 Mmmm must say its a brilliant idea for taking over the world though...

I wonder why the US Government allows M$ to do such things. Why dont we just cut to the chase and say Bill Gates is the antichrist? :p

187651 2003-10-29 12:29:00 Banks run windows nt & 2000, so they'll be the first to go as they need the new "security" - M$ will be in control over the major banks.

Then the sharemarket will need new computers, so they'll upgrade them too - now M$ controls the sharemarket.

Then M$ will buy out the major news networks - M$ now controls the flow of information round the world and can do whatever it wants.

M$ decides to buy out the airlines, and buys out Boeing and Lockheed - M$ can now make warplanes. :O M$ then uses the warplanes to take over america and then its pretty much downhill from there...

187654 2003-10-29 20:18:00 Oh yes, Lets all just on the bandwagon with both feet and rally to support MS in their bid to total world dominance!

I'd love to see Linus Torvalds try a stunt like this ;-)

187655 2003-10-29 21:05:00 Megalomania. 1. a form of madness in which a person has ideas of his own importance, etc. 2. an obsessive desire to do things on a grand scale.

Monopoly. 1. exclusive possession of the trade in some commodity. 2. sole possession or control of anything.

They fit nicely together don't you think.

Take this you low down dirty consumers and that and for good measure have a piece of this.

I bet the bureaucrat and spooks are rubbing their hands together in anticipation along with every other would be megalomaniac monopolists who'll be clamering to go along for the ride (on your PC).

187656 2003-10-29 21:19:00 Perhaps Thomas is actually being serious, are you Thomas?

After all, what we are seeing is an extension of unbridled corporate capitalism to such an extent that the 'unlimited individual freedoms without social responsibility', so espoused by proponents of the right, are themselves being removed by the Redmond mafia.
