| 187997 | 2003-10-31 00:20:00 | Hey guys just a quick question, does anyone out there have Halo (PCCD) I have recently bought it and it rocks, however I am convinced it can run better on my machine . I'm currently running the game in 640x480 res medium textures and most of the other eye candy is on low or switched off . What I want to know is what the specs are for your machines and what kinda gameplay you're getting as far as smoothness is concerned . Any performance tips to enhance the game as well would be great? I have: 2 . 4Ghz Celeron 1GB DDR 400 RAM Asus 9520 Video Magic Graphics Card (GeForce FX 5200 128MB) Running the latest nVidia Drivers (Forceware I think it's called) 50 . 12 Windows 2000 Pro SP4 Philips 107E4 monitor I have also installed the lastest game patch for Halo . Cheers chiefnz |

My suggestion is that perhaps your card isn't as capable at running Halo?? Maybe it might be an idea for you to change your settings to high performance, etc? Lo. |

So your results are about right. |

| 188001 | 2003-10-31 00:38:00 | Actually - The FX5600 on P4 2.4 with 2gig DDR at 800X600, and eye candy on high, runs well without lagging. Pushing it up to 1024X960 causes some lag. The FX5900U with P4 3.0 with 2gigs DDR at 1280X1024 and eye candy on high runs well too, with minimal lag. All drivers are 45.23. I didn't like the 52.16 drivers too much as I started having poorer performance in some games. Lo. |

Yeah but a p4 2.4 and an 5600 is a fair whack of grunt over a celery with a 5200,The outdated even when released g4mx has been known to easily out bench the fx5200,having said that the g4ti4200 easily out performs the fx5600..... And to make it worse, the ti's have all disapeared off my pricelists in the last week,im heartbroken, looks like im going to have to push the fx5600 as the budget card to buy. |

Yeah, fair enough. Dunno about a Ti4200 beating an FX5200 in a DX9 test though?? > And to make it worse, the ti's have all disapeared off > my pricelists in the last week,im heartbroken, looks > like im going to have to push the fx5600 as the > budget card to buy. Why not wait for the FX5700?? The new 'budget' card about to be released, isn't it? Lo. |

| 188005 | 2003-10-31 01:02:00 | well, the ti cant do dx9 ,so any FX card beats it by default,I however dont believe the 5200 for example is powerful enough speed wise to render dx9 effects at an acceptable framerate. And while i am looking out for the new line of nvidia cards(with the ibm chip on em i believe) i have to work with what i have available at the moment. |
