Take the reg numbers, go to the Post Office and for a couple of bucks each they will give you the name and address of the registered owner. At least they should do unless the rules have changed in the last month or so.

Write or telephone and discuss. If that doesn't work just put up a provate parking, offenders will be towed notice (including the phone number of your selected Towing Company if they didn't provide the notice for you) then if they ignore that, just do it.

Life is too short to be jerked around by selfish, ignorant people.

Cheers

188330 2003-11-01 07:00:00 Thanks Billy.

I will see my local police station then I will contact one of the towing companies to put a sign up. We don't really have a problem with it. If they asked, we would not even charge them a cent for it. We would only ask them to leave at 8pm but they can arrive at any time they desire. They don't even talk to us when notes are put on their windscreens. Free parking whole day to 8pm - what can be more nice. Given their behaviour its only appropriate to stop being nice.

188331 2003-11-01 07:02:00 If it was me, I would go and talk to them and see if I can resolve the problem that way. They may say "Okay, we'll stop using your land". This may just be enough to stop them doing it and it wouldn't need to get messy.

If they don't stop using your land, then get trespass notices and give them to the car owners.

If they still don't stop, then its time to call the tow truck drivers.

Just remember that you don't kill a fly with a shot gun. Only use the tow trucks, trespass notices, etc if you really have to.

188332 2003-11-01 08:38:00 Nomad, what town are you in? Have you talked to your local council? Don't just go in there though, ring them up and ask the operator to put you through to the parking/traffic department, ask to speak to the head of the parking division, and have a chat with them about it. I'm sure they'll have no issues with talking to you about it and telling you what you can and cannot do.

I don't see any problem with having the cars towed if they become a problem, but it wouldn't hurt to check out what you can do first, and what the rights of the other guy is before you do it.

I happen to know a lot of people who work for a council ;) and they're not bad people - quite willing to help anybody who'll ask for it.

Cheers,

Mike.

188333 2003-11-01 09:16:00 Hi Mike

I am in Wellington. The premises is located just north - Tawa. Will give them a call. Its our premises that is the issue, I don't work there however.

The problem is this. We are a block to ourselves. Then there is a driveway - at the back are some houses (private) after the driveway is like 3 shops with a couple of employees in it. I do not know who exactly it is ... One time it may be car A, then car B then A again etc etc.. They only have two carparks behind their premises so the third car who ever comes third just grabs our slot.

188334 2003-11-01 09:20:00 Billy T`s right; when I was a young dickhead and thought the world owed me a life I used to park anywhere I fancied-- one premise disuaded me by using a large very sticky sign on my windscreen saying; don`t park here again or you`ll get another one of these. Took me about half an hour to scrape the damn thing off, but I never parked there again. brewer (4389)

That sounds like fun - putting those on a car, that is, not being on the receiving end :D
