188238 2003-10-31 20:10:00 Good morning. I have just had Windows 2000 Professional installed on my computer, and it will not recognise my modem. The modem is only a year old, and I do not have the drivers for it..I have tried going through the wizard again and again, trying all sorts of modem types, but with no success.
If I buy a new modem, will this install okay? Thank you .
My machine is a PC Company, 466Mhz, 9 gig free, about 3 years old, It had Windows 98 Special Edition on previously which became corrupt for an unknown reason.

188239 2003-10-31 20:27:00 have a look at the model number writen on the modem (often the telecom sticker will have it). if it dosn't have one then you can try the generic drivers for the chip that it uses. there is also a few ID utilities tho i havn't got the url at the mo....anyone?? tweak'e (174)
188240 2003-10-31 22:02:00 Aida16 run from a dos boot floppy is very good. It will give "all" the computer info, including plug-in cards. Using the dos version means you dont have to install into Windows. Can be used on any machine as long as you have a dos boot floppy.

188241 2003-10-31 22:52:00 who is the maker of that card, find the model number go to their site and see if the drivers are downloadable or you should have got a driver disk with your modem have you tried looking on there its very uncommon for a modem of this age to not have software support for win2k. Win2k however proberly doesnt know about it as the modem was made after win2k was released beama (111)
188242 2003-11-01 04:03:00 If it's a recent PC Co machine chances are it is an Intel HAM modem.

Go to DriverGuide (http://www.driverguide.com) you should be able to find one to download there.
