2003-11-02 09:51:00 | Gidday, I had been downloading (with getright) a big file that I got from fileplanet and everything was fine for a week or more then suddenly i get a Error 403 = forbidden. According to getright this error is related to accessing a server that requires a password. You do need to belong to fileplanet to access their files, which I do. Any ideas why i am getting this error and any way around it?? cheers Nath

They have change the file location & they have not updated the website . . . . 3 . They do not want people to download that file for some reason . . . All I can suggest is try again :), if it fails again, trying contacting them & see what they say . also what is the URL for fileplanet??? And the file you where trying to download (and I will try with Flash Get & see if I get the same message) |

2003-11-02 10:30:00 | i think fileplanet runs either by cookie of referrer. they have a download system and i think it only lets you access it for a certain length of time eg a few days. afdter that it won't let you access it without going threw the download system. its been a while since i've used file planet and as far as i know theres no way around it except find a different mirror. | tweak'e (174) | |
2003-11-03 07:03:00 | Gidday, I am able to access and restart downloading those 2 files I mentioned, so it seems there is some kind of time limit for downloading files from fileplanet - but why do they make sure you join them and create a pass word etc. How well guess I won't try downloading that 587MB Half life 2 enhanced game play movie - always thought it was a little too big for a dial-up connection. thanks for the replies cheers Nath

2003-11-03 17:50:00 | Hit http://files.ausgamers.com or ftp.jetstreamgames.co.nz to download it instead.. Just be aware that Ausgamers limits the connection to 2 simeoultaneous connections by the same IP, (in other words you can only have 2 segments to download with) | cyberchuck (173) | |
2003-11-04 08:40:00 | Gidday, thanks for the links cyberchuck . I managed to solve my download problem - I emailed fileplanet/gamespy help and got a quick response with the following solution: Problem: I can't resume my downloads! Solution: This happens if you wait longer than 48 hours to resume a download . Unfortunately that's as long as we can keep links active . You can still resume this download, though, by waiting in line again and using GetRight once you get the fresh download link . So I just had to access the file again (and getright will never overwrite a partially downloaded file) and get the link up and running . cheers Nath
