188455 2003-11-01 09:17:00 Hello All,

Could anyone pse suggest some good software that will scan / search your HDD for duplicate file, by name / size / type / etc??

Freeware would be best but will look at anything...

I'm running out of disk space and i'm sure i've doubled up on files somewhere along the line.....

Thanks very much...

Darcy.

188456 2003-11-01 09:25:00 Old DOS utils used to do this quite quickly and easily, such as XTree Gold and similar. Do a search on Downloads.com for "duplicate file" or similar search terms and see what you come up with.

188458 2003-11-01 09:29:00 I had a quick search there and the first few in the search results looked like they might do the trick.

188461 2003-11-02 01:24:00 A good one i've used is called WMatch which was made by PC Magazine (US). I think they're charging for the downloads now though. somebody (208)
188462 2003-11-02 01:51:00 Easycleaner, which has been discussed in threads recently contains a duplicate file finder, plus you get the other cleanup utils with it too.
Just be careful not to delete duplicates which may be necessary like dll system files. It's freeware
