Just thought you should be warned that there is a bogus email doing the rounds purporting to be from Westpac . Hubby received the following today:

our members no longer have access to their email addresses and we must verify it .

188768 2003-11-02 20:07:00 Yes, and I just discovered I received it too - IHUG treated mine as spam (and deleted it for me), but not hubby's for some reason.

188769 2003-11-02 20:26:00 It _appears_ to be now taking you to the westpac trust Privacy Policy page.

Perhaps somebody alerted WestPac and they forced the people to change the website so it now redirects to that page?

The @*** part really gives it away in the URL that something's up!

188770 2003-11-02 21:53:00 Thanks for the warning.
I had a similar one a while ago, ostensibly from PayPal :)

188771 2003-11-02 22:00:00 No Chill, that is also part of the scam, it redirects through 2 other urls including a Russian one before getting to Westpac Australia, and you still get a window asking for verification of iD and password. Terry Porritt (14)
188772 2003-11-02 22:18:00 I got it too, sent to a dummy email account I use at work for incoming stuff off the web.

I've just sent a copy of it off to Westpac.

188773 2003-11-02 22:49:00 Thanks for the warning Oxie. Have not received it myself but know lots of teenagers with WestpacTrust accounts so will pass the warning on to them. Susan B (19)
