| 188602 | 2003-11-02 02:25:00 | My son is attempting to use his 400mhz machine as a firewall, using either "Smoothwall" or "IPCop". He is having trouble configuring the modem which is an internal Dynalink HCF modem, he has also tried a D-Link external 56k (one which I've used successfully in the past with Linux) with no success either. He's pretty good at programming but no Linux Guru and I'm not much good with either so I'm wondering if someone could steer us in the right direction please. He has gone through the documentation, but hasn't found that much help. | jcr1 (893) | ||

You can get drivers for those modems for Redhat, Mandrake etc but not Smoothwall/IPCop to the best of my knowledge. Is the external one usb or serial?? If serial make sure to disable com1+2 in your bios and try again. |
