189178 2003-11-04 08:18:00 tis a goodie, it beeps when a program i have closed or anything that closes... windows etc, but at times it beeps when i have shut nothing?

now it does not bother me OK?
but....i would like to know whats happening.

so something has been running in the background and it closed and it beeps, doesnt bother me that it beeps as its not always noticed by me, (not looud enuf) but was wondering ... and its back to that same question what is running that makes it beep? i have no idea how i got it set to beep when something closes, but i find it helpful to know that something has closed, even when i dont see it close? understand? like it beeps when avg has done its auto thing and then shuts and beep i know avg has finished?

lol
stupid query i guess, but it does it not long after startup, it beeps and i know nothing should be running as everything is unticked... not to run.
after i have started doing something or opened a prog.
any ideas,

thanxs,

189179 2003-11-04 08:36:00 Maybe this is what you mean? ......Open Control Panel, click on Sounds, and there is a list of actions that can be given a choice of sounds. Terry Porritt (14)
189180 2003-11-04 08:44:00 ok will have a look,
probably it,

but it does not bother me that it does this, i just was wondering about .....um does it pick all progs i guess or is something running that is a background prog, that is on all the time or something.
and if it does not show up as processors running or something , it is something i dont know about.
finding that elusive needle in haystack ......

thanxs for that tip will go look now.

189181 2003-11-05 00:25:00 To Add.... Could it also be the Beep located in Device Manager?

1. Go to Run
2. Type: devmgmt.msc
3. Click View
4. Show Hidden Devices
5. Beep
6. Double click to Disable..

If it beeps too often, then I suggest to look outside...

He has left out one step in getting to the Beep option, in Device Manager you have to look in Non Plug and Play Drivers, someway down the list of devices.
