189059 2003-11-04 05:24:00 It was Microsoft Office that was recommended to you, but Open Office will do.

Start reading the manuals (aka Help Files, aka F1)....... :p :D

189061 2003-11-04 05:55:00 Open Office can do everything you need unless you're a huge corporate. File compatibility is not an issue - it can open and save as any MS Office format. File sizes tend to be smaller than MS Office's, too. I'm a writer and editor and have been using it for a year or so with no problems, in both Linux and Windows versions. It's at least worth a try. stratters (2587)

189063 2003-11-04 06:17:00 OpenOffice is easy to use, just check out the help files if you are stuck. Also remember to save your files in the .doc format (or .rtf format) so that you don't have compatibility problems with MS users.

I think it is a great Office Suite :)

Well, F1 is a key on your keyboard to open up the help files for a program.

Press F1 is a fantastic free helpdesk-type forum whose members tolerate all sorts of strange questions, PC and otherwise. :p :D

But how are you going to upload them onto the forum? :-)

[pre]Something tells me I am going to need to install Open Office on my PC.... <sigh > :D

189065 2003-11-04 06:53:00 I was about to install OpenOffice on my computer in the weekend, but something put me off. I think it was the thing about 'closing other applications to install the java thingamajig that enables extra features'... I was far to wrapped up in applications to have the ability to close them. agent (30)
