189041 2003-11-04 03:24:00 Jeeze, I have been waiting in anticipation ofr a few months now for BCL's (through Telecom) new wireless interent coming to my area.
The reason I was so interested in it was becuase I can't get ADSL, and i'm not to keen on Sateliite (still need dial up - which is SLOWW) so wireless seemed perfect.
Anyway - i went to the telecom site on the day of release, to find that its close to $1500 for intsallation, then $110 for 1GB monthly data!

I new it would be high, but $1500 for setup!! thats huge, i could buy a new PC for that much.

Anyway - Ihug are still yet to release theirs, so hopefully theres is lower - or, they drop prices to gain advantage.

Looks like I'll have to stick to slow dial up.... No multiplyaer net games for me..... yet...

Heres more info if ya interested:

Looks like you can only use Xtra as your ISP as well! :(

Think I'll wait for Woosh.

189045 2003-11-04 06:38:00 well let me just say all the wireless internets aren't that great for gaming for some reason. There download speeds are good. But they have high pings because of random packet loss i think...

looking at other forums ppl using woosh get pings that jump from 41, 430, 45, 350, etc.

Not good for gaming... if that's wot u r intending to use the new wireless broadband for

189046 2003-11-04 06:41:00 those pings are better than i'd ever get on 56k, and na, gaming would be a "bonus extra" fergie (424)
189047 2003-11-04 06:43:00 Yeah even though the pings seem better than wot 56k can ever do the lag is just as bad (reported by some users) because of the random packet loss. e.g. lags once every3~5seconds or so Chao is back (634)
